Chicago Bears 2015 Training Camp Guide

(CBS) The Bears will open their first training camp under new coach John Fox when they report to Bourbonnais on July 29. Coming off a 5-11 season, Chicago has much to improve upon, and the process back to respectability figures to take some time.

Fans can get their first look at the new era when the Bears hold their first practice on July 30.

Here's a guide to what you need to know.


The Bears will hold training camp at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais for the 14th straight season.

All practices are open to the public and free of charge. Parking is also free.

To get to Bourbonnais from Chicago, take Interstate 57 South to exit 315 for IL-50 toward Bradley/Bourbonnais. Turn right onto IL-50 S, then turn right on Armour Road shortly after. Take that to Stadium Drive, where you should turn left and follow the signs from there.


For practices that start at 9:35 a.m., the gates open at 8:30 a.m. For practices that starts at 11:15 a.m., gates will open at 10 a.m. Players will begin warmups about 40 minutes before practice starts. Practices will then last about two hours each day.

Here's a list of practices in Bourbonnais. On Aug. 8, the Bears practice at Soldier Field. On Aug. 13, they host the Dolphins at Soldier Field in their preseason opener.

The training camp site on campus of Olivet Nazarene will include a kids' interactive area, a pro shop and a promotional area with games and prizes. The Bears will also host family-friendly events and theme days throughout camp, with details to be announced close to the start of camp.

There will also be the opportunity for autographs from Bears players and alumni.

What to watch for

With a new coaching staff needing to players prove themselves, the Bears have a handful of open positional competitions entering camp, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
