Bulls' Derrick Rose To Return Wednesday Night Against Hawks

(CBS) The return is here for Bulls point guard Derrick Rose. After missing Monday's game in Charlotte with general soreness, Rose will play in Wednesday's contest at the United Center against the Hawks.

Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg confirmed to reporters Wednesday that Rose will be back in the lineup. The team suffered a 108-91 loss to the Hornets in Rose's absence.

Rose has played 44 games this season, averaging 15.9 points and 4.8 assists, shooting 40.9 percent from the field.

Chicago has struggled in Hoiberg's first season as coach, dropping three in a row to fall to 27-24 and seventh place in the Eastern Conference. To make matters worse, the Bulls announced Tuesday that Jimmy Butler would miss three to four more weeks with a left knee strain.

In other injury news, the Bulls don't expect forward Nikola Mirotic back any time soon. He's still recovering from two recent surgeries, the first an appendectomy and the second to remove a hematoma, and he's been struggling to even get on his feet.

"I saw Niko yesterday," Hoiberg said. "He's still in a lot of pain. He lost a lot of weight. He lost about 15 pounds with the complication. It's a tough situation. He gets his stitches out today. That will hopefully get him a little more upright and moving around, but still no timeframe on Niko."

The Bulls and Hawks tip off at 7 p.m.CT. from the United Center.
