Browns Punter Becomes Team's Highest-Rated QB
(CBS) Warning: if the following is true, you have a bad football team.
After several pivotal fake plays in the Browns win on Sunday, punter Spencer Lanning finished the game with a 152.1 passer rating, making him the team's highest-rated quarterback this season.
Move over Brandon Weeden and Brian Hoyer, Lanning is here.
Lanning completed an 11-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Cameron on a fake field goal. He also gained 34 yards on a fake punt.
"The only thing I was thinking was not overthrowing him," said Lanning of his touchdown pass. "(I) just wanted to get him the ball. I didn't want to zip it out there. We've seen guys around the league run the same play and overthrow the guy."
