Bowen: Beating Chiefs Vital To Playoff Race

(WSCR) With five games remaining in the regular season, the Bears sit at 7-4, deeply in the hunt for a playoff berth.

If the Bears have any plans of extending their season beyond their matchup with Vikings on Jan. 1, this Sunday's game against the depleted Chiefs is a must-win.

"If you're going to talk about the playoffs in those team meetings and out at practice, you have to beat a team like the chiefs at home," Matt Bowen of the National Football Post and Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. "There's no question about it, especially with the issues they have at quarterback right now."

It looks as though the Chiefs will starter Tyler Palko, who has had his struggles this season, throwing six interceptions in his last two games.

"I don't know when or if we're going to see Kyle Orton, but if Tyler Palko is indeed starting, that Bears defense should make some plays," Bowen said. "If you go back to his last two games against the Patriots and the Steelers, we're talking about a quarterback that's not really seeing the field that well. He's throwing the ball up for grabs. If you do that against this Bears defense, you should see some turnovers."
