Bikes N' Roses Reopens Belmont Cragin Location With City Support For Youth Employment Opportunities

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Mayor Rahm Emanuel has announced an investment to restore 65 youth employment opportunities on the city's Northwest Side.

The small business Bikes N' Roses had to close its Belmont Cragin neighborhood location earlier this year due to the state budget impasse.

Mayor Emanuel is pledging city support for the program.

"I can't imagine that a state would actually have pulled money back from kids who are actually doing something very positive not only for themselves, but bringing other kids in and being role models in a community," Emanuel said.

The program provides after school and summer jobs for local high school students.

Last year, students involved in Bikes N' Roses bikes to Springfield to bring attention to the impact the state budget impasse is having on them and programs for young people.
