Biggs: Concern Growing At Safety Position
(WSCR) In the Bears preseason win over the Redskins on Saturday, the team was seemingly running on all cylinders.
That is, of course, with the exception of the safeties.
Starting free safety Chris Conte suffered a shoulder injury. His backup, Brandon Hardin, was carted off the field with an apparent neck injury after leading with his head on a tackle.
"I think you're always going to be concerned about the safety position with the Bears, until you see something sustained for a season or more, really, with quality play and stability," Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune and National Football Post told The Mully and Hanley Show. "I'd be concerned about the safeties (even) if they were healthy."

Still, a bright spot for the team on Saturday was the play of rookie wide receiver Alshon Jeffery. The wide out caught three balls for 62 yards.
"I think everyone is seeing what Alshon Jeffery can do in terms of really taking playing time away from some veterans," Biggs said. "That's what's happening here. The more he plays, the more (time) he's going to take. The better he performs, the more he's going to be on the field. That's turned into a real bright spot. He's really exceeded expectations. You just don't see these rookie wide receivers step up real often."
