Best Corn Mazes In The Chicago Area

Every change of season brings on activities to look forward to, from building a snowman in winter to swimming at the pool during summer. Fall is no exception, with corn mazes being one of the most popular activities for children and adults alike. Last year's "Best Corn Mazes Near Chicago" highlighted some of the best corn mazes within a two-hour drive from the city. For 2014, check out some of the corn mazes worth taking the trek out to visit. Whether it's the size of the maze or the extra activities offered at the venue, there are some great options available.

Because All Seasons Apple Orchard contains both apple picking and barnyard activities, there are three different admission prices available: apple picking only, barnyard activities or a combination of both. Admission ranges from $8 to $10.50 for those only interested in the barnyard activities, which includes the corn maze. The 2014 corn maze theme has been announced as a pumpkin theme, with a Charlie Brown design in the larger maze and the story of Spookley the Square Pumpkin in the shorter maze geared towards children. With three miles of pathways, two paths to choose from and utilizing over 10 acres of corn, All Seasons Apple Orchard ensures the corn maze experience is a grand one.

There are two mazes to choose from, with the smaller one great for children at less than half a mile and the larger one comprising almost three and a half miles in length. Admission for children three years of age and younger are free, and $9 for others. Admission includes access to both corn mazes, corn pit, animal barn, straw playground and much more. Free parking is available onsite, and on weekends there are pony rides for the kids.

Bengston's Pumpkin Farm offers a full day of fun for the whole family. Admission is $9.99 to $13.99 depending on the day, with children two years of age and younger free of charge. Free parking is available onsite, and the admission price includes unlimited Kiddie Rides for the entire season. The "Crazy Corn Maizey" encompasses over three acres of space, with a stone path making it easy to bring along strollers or wagons.

Within an hour's drive from the city, Dollinger's Pumpkin Farm is a great getaway for those looking for a peaceful farm experience. Embracing its rich history, parts of the farm show signs from the 1800s. Stepping into the past combined with the many activities on the farm makes this venue extra special for your corn maze outing. Admission and parking is free, and the corn maze offers four acres of space to stroll through.

Located about an hour from the city, Heap's Giant Pumpkin Farm is open every day until 5 p.m. While admission is free to enter Heap's Giant Pumpkin Farm, there is a $3 fee to enter the corn maze. All children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult, since the maze encompasses a few acres of walking space. While there, guests are encouraged to partake in all of the other family-friendly activities from interacting with the farm animals to the Moonlight Hay Rides.
