CHICAGO (CBS) -- It's a quiet Sunday morning before a home game and dozens of little feet are scurrying around Wrigley Field. It's the second Clark's Crew of the season, where inquisitive kids under 13 get to talk with the Cubs' mascot and some of their favorite players about their favorite sport.
"What was your favorite baseball team growing up?" asked Marley.
"My favorite team growing up was the (Atlanta) Braves," Cubs reliever Justin Grimm said.
On this day, Grimm and starting right-hander Kyle Hendricks are on the hot seat.
"What do you think when you are walk to mound?" one kid asked.
"If I'm thinking on that mound, I'm in trouble," laughed Hendricks.
"It's a good excuse to get up in the morning and come out to a ball game. No one is here right now, so it's a really intimate experience," said Stephanie Shaw, coordinator of brand initiatives for the Chicago Cubs.
The kids' club is in its fifth year, and it gives some children their first big league ballpark experience.
"Most of the times, when you ask people when they came to Wrigley, the first time they came out, it's really at a young age," Shaw said.
Plus, she says it gives the players a chance to interact with some of their youngest fans.
"The players love coming out to these events that are kids focused," Shaw said. "I think they remember when they started playing the game, they see that, they see themselves in these kids, they want to show them they can aspire to greatness and we love having them out here. They do such a great job interacting with them."
Some of the little ones have some hard hitting questions.
"What is your favorite color?"
"It's blue, Cubbie blue, absolutely," Grimm said.
Shaw says Clark's Crew & Kids Club gets young people interested in the game early, and hopefully they'll be a fan for life.
"Cubs and Wrigley Field, it's really a generational thing," she said. "This is a great opportunity for parents and grandparents who've come out to Wrigley who've loved the Cubs their whole lives to show their kids what it's like to come out here. It's a great chance to share that with their child."
