Bears Sign Safety Tom Nelson To Reserve/Futures Contract
(CBS) The Bears have added some safety depth by signing Tom Nelson to a reserve/futures contract.
Nelson did not play in 2012 after suffering an ankle injury in Philadelphia Eagles' training camp back in August and only played in four games in 2011 when the Eagles signed him late in the season. He entered the league in 2009 as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois State and spent his first two seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. Nelson had most of his success as a rookie when he accounted for 25 tackles and an interception in 12 games.
Nelson is an Arlington Heights native who played at Hersey High School. Fans might remember him from HBO's Hard Knocks where his quest to make the Bengals as a rookie was chronicled.
