Bears Officially Release Matt Toeaina
(CBS) The Bears terminated the contract of defensive tackle Matt Toeaina Tuesday, ending his six-year run with the team.
Toeaina only played in three games last season and is reportedly still nursing a knee injury. His release was expected last month after the Sun-Times reported the defensive tackle would not take a pay cut.
Toeaina thanked the Bears organization Tuesday in a Tweet:
Toeaina started 24 of 36 games played with the Bears over six seasons, recording 66 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and two tackles for loss.
