CHICAGO (CBS) -- Thieves who smashed a front door of a luxury boutique got away with a huge haul this morning.
Around 5 a.m., the thief or thieves used some kind of object to shatter the door of an upscale consignment boutique called Luxury Garage Sale at North and Wells, police said.
The burglars made off with several designer handbags.
Police estimate the value of the loot at $100,000.
One handbag that was left at the scene as a retail value of nearly $1,500.
It's the latest in a recent wave of such smash-and-grab burglaries.
Last week, another one happened at Moncler, a high-end Oak Street shop where the burglars drove a car inside and made off with several racks of expensive coats.
