Amtrak Train Strikes Vehicle, Killing 1 In Morton Grove

CHICAGO (CBS)-- An Amtrak train struck a minivan, killing the driver in Morton Grove just after noon Sunday.

According to Morton Grove police, the Amtrak train was traveling south when it struck the minivan driving east on Lincoln Avenue.

Witnesses said the driver went around the gate and was on the track when the Amtrak train slammed into the vehicle.

Northbound Lehigh Avenue is closed from Chestnust to St. Paul Woods. Westbound Lincoln is closed from Ferris to St. Paul Woods.

Officials said alternate routes to enter St. Paul Woods can be found on Oakton east of Caldwell.

The train originated in Milwaukee and was headed to Union Station. No one on the train was hurt.
