Abbott Labs Reopening Gurnee Plant To Produce More COVID-19 Tests

CHICAGO (CBS)-- A north suburban plant that makes COVID-19 tests is going back online, because of an increase in demand.

Abbott Labs shut down its Gurnee plant back in June after demand for "Binax Now" tests dropped. Those are the 15 minute antigen tests.

Abbott is hiring for temporary positions, starting at $20 an hour. People who previously worked at the plant will be given preferential treatment.
