64-Year-Old Man Killed In Burnham House Fire

(CBS) -- A 64-year-old man died Friday night in a fire in his home in south suburban Burnham, reports WBBM's Mike Krauser.

Firefighters were called to the home of James Bennett near 145th and Bensley around 10:45 p.m. Friday.

Bennett was pronounced dead at St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond. The Lake County coroner says the man died from fire-related injuries.

It appears the fire started in the basement of the home. Work was being done at the home, but it is unclear if that had anything to do with the fire.

"It's a good thing the rest of the family made it out, it's sorry that one family member didn't," said worker Antonio Rodriguez.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
