2 Hospitalized After 3 Houses Burn In South Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people suffered smoke inhalation overnight when three homes went up in flames on the city's Southeast Side.
The fire broke out early Tuesday morning in a vacant house at 8537 S. Muskegon Ave., in the South Chicago neighborhood.
Something inside the house exploded, and the flames spread to two other homes nearby.
The Fire Department raised a 2-11 alarm for the blaze, which ripped through the three 2 1/2-story frame houses.
Two people were taken to area hospitals with minor smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire remained undetermined as of 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
