Coffee Was Black turns Atlanta coffee runs into lessons in Black history
In Atlanta’s historic Sweet Auburn District, Coffee Was Black is serving more than coffee and tea. Founder Malcolm Voltaire says the Caribbean-inspired shop is built around storytelling, culture and community — all inside a historic building once owned by pioneering Black businesswoman Geneva Haugabrooks.
