Mother, teen daughters charged in golf club assault of 14-year-old in Newnan, police say

A Newnan mother and her two teenage daughters are facing criminal charges for an attack that sent a 14-year-old to a metro Atlanta hospital, police say.

Authorities with the Newnan Police Department say the situation began on Ball Street on Monday evening with an argument between the teens that turned into a physical assault.

Police say they responded to a 911 call around 6:39 p.m. and say they learned that the 14-year-old victim was hit in the head with a golf club.

According to investigators, 36-year-old Curtisia Anya' Heath went into her apartment and retrieved the club, handing it to her 16-year-old daughter. After the victim was struck, police say the 16-year-old's younger sister took the club and hit a second juvenile victim.

The 14-year-old victim remains in the hospital as of Tuesday morning. Officials say she is expected to recover.

Officers took Heath into custody and charged her with aggravated assault. Police say her 16-year-old and 15-year-old daughters are also charged with aggravated assault, with the older one facing a charge of aggravated battery as well. Both teens are in custody at a regional youth detention center.
