27-year-old man goes missing in Lake Allatoona, search underway

A search is underway for a man who authorities said disappeared in Lake Allatoona on Sunday.

At 12:49 p.m. on July 5, game wardens and Bartow County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a possible drowning at Allatoona Lake near Glade Marina, according to Mark McKinnon, a Georgia Department of Natural Resources spokesperson. A 27-year-old man reportedly exited the back of a ski boat, went under the water, and did not resurface, McKinnon said.

Search efforts began immediately using boat-mounted SONAR technology to scan the area.

Additional personnel and equipment were brought in, and the search is expected to continue through the night.
