7-year-old boy injured in drive-by shooting at Atlanta apartments, police say

A 7-year-old boy was rushed the hospital after police say he was the victim in a drive-by shooting at an Atlanta apartment complex.

Authorities say the shots rang out shortly before 1:45 a.m. on Thursday at the complex on the 1300 block of Kimberly Way.

When officers got to the scene, they found the 7-year-old victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his right arm.

Medics rushed the child to a local hospital. As of the last report, he was said to be recovering from his injuries.

Police spent the early morning hours collecting shell casings and other evidence at the scene. Investigators say three apartments were damaged by the gunfire, which is believed to be from a drive-by shooting.

Officials have not shared any information about possible suspects or a motive behind the shooting.
