In the final episode, which aired June 5, both finalists were faced with the challenge of throwing a charity benefit. Lee, seated at right, had to orchestrate a celebrity hockey game in New York City to benefit the Denis Leary Firefighter's Foundation; Sean, seated at left, was asked to organize a Barenaked Ladies concert in Atlantic City to benefit the World Wildlife Fund.
Lee encountered many problems as project manager. A meeting with Leary's Firefighters Foundation was excruciating for him because he wasn't prepared. Then, Lee put Lenny in charge of the celebrities, a bad move considering Lenny didn't know any of them. Even Jaime Pressly, seen here at right, said to Lenny, "Your (stuff) is not together, little Apprentice boy!"
"Beverly Hills, 90210" alum Jason Priestley played in the celebrity hockey game with Denis Leary, Michael J. Fox, Stephen Baldwin and others. Lenny fouled things up for Lee when he failed to greet Priestley as he arrived to the event at Chelsea Piers in New York City.
Lots of planning and attention to detail helped Sean's go off without a hitch. The Barenaked Ladies, seen performing on stage at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, auctioned off a car for charity for more than $40,000. Then, the band took to the stage and played some of their best songs.
Sean started off on the right foot by greeting Trump as soon as he arrived at the concert, something that Lee didn't do because his event was so disorganized. After the Pontiac cars were auctioned and the fundraising part of Sean's task was complete, Trump greeted the audience on stage at the Taj Mahal and wished Sean, "Good Luck."
In the final boardroom, Trump said Lee picked a far riskier team. Trump then grilled the would-be apprentices, asking them why each was better than the other. Sean and Lee rattled off their academic accomplishments. Then Trump offered each finalist two projects to work on as winner: Trump International Tower in Waikiki Beach or in NYC's Soho area. Both chose the Soho project.
Trump, Carolyn Kepcher and George Ross arrive at the finale. When Trump asked George who he should pick, he said either candidate would make a good apprentice. Carolyn praised both guys but said that Sean has "energy like I've never seen."
The fifth season of "The Apprentice" came to a close when Trump hired Sean, a recruitment consultant. "Mr. Trump, I am not going to let you down," vowed Sean. "I'm going to show you as soon as possible that you made the right decision." The Brit will take a job overseeing the development of the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Soho. It's a 50-story condominium that is expected to be completed in 2008.
Sean rode off into the Los Angeles night in the new Pontiac he received as winner of season five. "I'm the Apprentice, baby, yes!" said Sean. "I'm going to work my fingers to the bone and I'm going to make you even richer."
