Many people and companies are reaching out to help the people of Greensburg, Kan. On May 1, 2008, Del Monte Foods donated 50,000 pounds of its pet food brands to the animals of Greensburg. More than 200 of the city's pets were displaced, then sheltered by a local humane society, following last year's tornado.

On Thursday, May 1, 2008, Amazon.com and its partners -- Schwinn, Mongoose, Fuzion Scooters and Bell Helmets -- delivered a truckload of bikes and helmets for the city's youngsters.

These youngsters are the reason Greensburg, Kan., is busily working to put itself back on the map following last year's devastating tornado. Many here say they want to preserve the city for its children.
