Conchata Ferrell, whose role as Berta the bossy housekeeper in "Two and A Half Men" has earned her two Emmy nominations, made her film debut in 1976 in "Network." In the three decades since then, her face has been all over the networks, including as a series regular in a surprising number of hit shows, from "L.A. Law" to "E/R"
Ferrell attended this party at for Emmy nominees in 2005, with Jessica Walter and Holland Taylor, who is also in "Two And A Half Men." Ferrell was previously nominated for her role as Susan Bloom in "L.A. Law".
Ferrell was born in a small Appalachian town in West Virginia called Cane Fork, moved to New York, and became a theater actress, before moving on to film and TV. She plays Berta in "Two and A Half Men" Berta is described as Charlie's domineering, unapologetically blue-collar housekeeper.
Though best known now for her role in "Two And A Half Men", she has also had parts in a slew of popular movies, such as "Mystic Pizza," "Edward Scissorhands," and "Erin Brockovich." In 1989, she told Radiance ("the magazine for large women"), "I've played a lot of nuns, nurses, and secretaries because that's how writers see fat women."
Berta and Charlie (played by Charlie Sheen) appear in an episode of "Two And A Half Men" entitled "Castrating Sheep in Montana."
Here Ferrell is with the other star of "Two And A Half Men," Jon Cryer, who plays Charlie Sheen's uptight brother who moves in with him, accompanied by his son.
Both Ferrell and Taylor have been nominated for Emmys again for their roles in "Three And A Half Men". "I'm a supporting actor in a business that's about stars," Ferrell told an interviewer. "I love this show, I love this character, and it's nice to be able to step up and take a little bow; but now I have to get the damn dress."
