Why aren't you listening to School of Seven Bells right now?

Alejandra Deheza and Benjamin Curtis of School of Seven Bells. Abbey Drucker

(CBS) One of the words that critics throw around often when describing School of Seven Bells is "ethereal." And those critics are correct. The music - textured guitars, layers of keyboards, electronics and beats that are often totally danceable - sounds as if it wants to leave Earth.

The voices, layers of female vocals singing leads and harmonies, sound airy, as if they're floating through space, but the imagery is concrete, rooted to someone who's lived, not just thought about living. "Disconnect From Desire," the band's second full-length, was released in September 2010.

School of Seven Bells is the duo of Benjamin Curtis and Alejandra Deheza. Until October 2010, Deheza's sister Claudia was the band's third member. Before School of Seven Bells, Curtis played in The Secret Machines and Deheza was a member of On!Air!Library!
