White House E-Mail: Just A Glitch?

A former White House contractor is alleging another White House cover-up.

Betty Lambuth says she was warned by White House superiors in 1998 not to reveal a problem with the e-mail system. The problem made it impossible to do a computer search of thousands of messages in response to various investigations of the Clinton administration.

Lambuth says she was told that some of the messages that weren't turned over to the Justice Department or congressional investigators discussed Vice President Gore's involvement in the campaign fund-raising controversy. She claims other White House messages contained information on F.B.I. background checks of Republicans and on the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

The White House says it won't comment until after a review of the e-mail matter next week.
