Turgeon Out For Two Months

St. Louis Blues center Pierre Turgeon will be out of action for six to eight weeks while he recovers from ligament damage to his right thumb.

An orthopedic specialist who examined Turgeon Tuesday night in St. Louis determined surgery wouldn't be required.

Turgeon, the Blues' leading scorer, was injured Saturday in the team's 4-0 victory over the Colorado Avalanche. The injury occurred when he awkwardly fell on the ice after being checked.

Turgeon, third in the NHL with 58 points, has 23 goals and 35 assists. He was selected to the North American All-Star squad for Sunday's All-Star game.
