Amsterdam's old Heineken brewery has been turning out its signature beer since 1864 when Gerard Adriaan Heineken founded Heineken & Co. Thus began a proud family tradition of brewing premium-quality beer that's proved extraordinarily popular with customers around the world. Each year, hundreds of thousands of them make their way to this mecca of brew where the company offers guided tours and offers - well, not state secrets, but enough about the process to whet visitors' thirsts for a taste or two (which they are dutifully offered.)
