Teens charged with beating student over Facebook argument

MINNEAPOLIS -- Four teenagers have been charged after they allegedly broke into a Minneapolis school and beat up a student, reports CBS Minnesota.

According to charging documents, the incident happened at Southwest High School on January 22. Three 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old allegedly got into the school using a door that is typically locked.

The teens allegedly searched the school for a student who had argued with them on Facebook, according to the documents. Police say when the suspects found the student, they punched and kicked him. A teacher who tried to break up the fight later ended up with a broken finger, according to CBS Minnesota.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman told the station that the four teenagers charged in this incident were not students attending the school.

"We decided to charge these four with burglary because it has tougher penalties than the lower-level assault charge," he added.
