Diane von Furstenberg

(CBS) - Believe it or not, technology and fashion have a lot in common - they ride new trends, are eye-catching and are constantly evolving with new styles or apps.

If you are a techy fashionista who wants to make a bolder statement, there's a new Spring collection of cases for iPhones, iPads and eReaders that are taking cues from Alexander McQueen, Prada, Givenchy, according to Griffin Technology.

We've even highlighted designers like Diane von Furstenberg, Michael Kors and Kate Spade. So, can non-designers live up to these fashion icons?

"With a diverse array of contemporary textures and fashion-forward designs, we've created Spring collections that allow consumers to make their own personal fashion statement," said George Campbell, Griffin's director of Industrial Design.

With pressed-metal looks, faux skins and fur-inspired patterns and a color palette that ranges from peacock, pool, leaf, and blazing yellow - you can throw conformity out the window.

"As the lines between us and our technologies continue to blur, we have a desire to relate these technologies to the familiar," Campbell adds. "A lot of our colorways for 2012 have an intentionally analogue feel...neutral colors, simplified shapes, and nostalgic textures. At the same time, there's a strong market demand for looks that take a completely different tack. The musical concept of the mash-up - taking two or more different songs and combining them to create something entirely new - is a huge influence for us this year."

Like Griffin Technology, the Fashion Institute of Technology also celebrates the parallels between fashion and technology. In their current exhibit, fashion icon, Daphne Guinness also highlights the works of the late McQueen, who's known for his innovative designs. But if you're a fashionista who wears McQueen's shoes, you might not want to walk and text!

So, what does your iPad, iPhone, eReader say about you? Are you more of a patent leather or an animal print techy fashionista? Maybe the weathered, leather look has become a bit to drab for the New Year and you are looking for a change. Check out some new patterns that may amp up your style.

Griffin's new Spring case collection will be featured at Griffin's booth at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas from Jan. 10 -13.
