Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow

Are you ready for another spy thriller? The PSP doesn't seem to be short on spy type action adventure games, but here is another one. "Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow", is the sequel to last year's hit release of Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror.

The story line was written by graphic novelist Greg Rucka, and apparently set after the events of Dark Mirror. Logan's Shadow puts you in the shoes of Gabe Logan, who is tasked to prevent new technology from getting into the hands of a terrorist organization. To add more trouble to the situation Logan's long time partner Lian Xing, is accused of being a double agent trying to help the other side.

Gameplay is simple as the controls are easy and you're guided by a map on screen. Stealth is key as you're supposed to attack the game using stealth tactics. In Logan's Shadow you get the standard spy gadgets and weapon load outs such as submachine guns, sticky mines, smoke grenades, and flash bangs.

Essentially, the game follows the basic same model of Dark Mirror, but with some small changes. For instance, in an advanced melee system you can grab enemies and use them as human shields. Likewise, you can also dive underwater and swim. It's necessary because certain mission require you to stay submerged. A cool move added is a water based attack where pull land based soldiers underwater and drown them.

Upon beating the game you can unlock new bonus levels, and new specialties. Logan's Shadow is also playable online. Multiplayer mode in, both ad hoc or online, contains seven maps, with five match types, including deathmatch, team deathmatch, rogue agent, sabotage, and retrieval aka capture the flag.

In all, Logan's Shadow delivers a great storyline and fans of the series should not miss out on this one.

Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow is rated "T" for Teen (Content suitable for ages 13 or older) and is available exclusively for the Playstation Portable gaming system.
