Storm Races By Stony Brook


Anthony Glover scored 20 points as St. John's beat Stony Brook 84-43 Tuesday night in the first meeting ever between the teams.

Eric Barkley and Chudney Gray each added 14 points for the Red Storm (2-1), who outscored the Seawolves (0-3) 39-9 on turnovers. St. John's had 17 turnovers as opposed to 30 for Stony Brook.

Reggie Jessie had 13 points, one more than Lavor Postell. Chris Balliro and Josh Little each had 11 points for Stony Brook, which trailed 41-24 at halftime.

  • Balliro's 3-pointer gave the Seawolves their final lead 11-8 at 14:37. The Red Storm, behind Glover's eight points, went on a 25-6 run to take a 33-17 lead with 5:05 left in the half.

    Glover's layup at 1:58 gave St. John's its largest lead of the half 41-19. Despite going 2-for-16 on 3-point attempts, the Red Storm shot 54 percent for the game.

    Stony Brook got as close as 43-34 on a pair of free throws by Joaquim Eriksson at 16:40 of the second half.

    The Red Storm responded with a 24-6 run to take a 67-40 lead at 8:04 as Gray, who did not start, led the way with eight points.

    The Seawolves are playing their first complete season in Division I. Last season, Stony Brook lost all seven games against Division I opponents.
