Second Cup Cafe: Emily King
Starring in our Second Cup Cafe this morning is New York City native Emily King.
An up-and-coming singer-songwriter, King has created a sound that's generating a lot of buzz, and earlier this year, she toured with John Legend.
The 22-year-old grew up in a music-filled household: her parents are jazz vocalists Marion Cowlings and Kim Kalesti.
Performing in folk clubs, King met up with Bad Boy producer Chucky Thompson (affiliated with singer Mary J. Blige) who introduced hip hop influences to King's sound.
Two years ago she was signed by RCA/J records, which released her debut album last year, entitled "East Side Story." She performed the cut "Walk in My Shoes" for us.
