Second Cup Café: Dianne Reeves

Dianne Reeves will be on The Saturday Early Show's Second Cup Café to help ring in the holidays with some tunes from her 2004 Christmas album, "Christmas Time Is Here." She'll perform the title song, as well as "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas."

Reeves contributed to the mood of the movie "Good Night, and Good Luck." George Clooney, who directed the film, selected the songs that are used, and it is Reeves who sings them on the soundtrack. She also appears in the movie intermittently.

She was awarded a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Performance for each of her last three recordings.

Reeves' singing draws upon a world of influences. She is tied to a powerful storytelling instinct and her virtuosity and improvisational gifts are breathtaking.

"Christmas Time Is Here," Reeves' first holiday recording, was released in late 2004. In the New York Times, reviewer Ben Ratliff wrote, "Ms. Reeves, a jazz singer of frequently astonishing skill, takes the assignment seriously; this is one of the best jazz Christmas CDs I've heard."
