Reports: Gill To Join Lakers

Veteran NBA swingman Kendall Gill has told two New York newspapers he'll leave the New Jersey Nets to play for the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers.

And, if he does, he'll probably take a hefty pay cut.

Gill averaged about 13 points a game last season. He has reportedly turned down a one-year, seven million dollar offer from New Jersey. He tells The New York Times and Daily News that he would sign for a two and a-quarter million dollar salary-cap exception with Los Angeles, unless a sign-and-trade deal can be arranged.

The Lakers aren't commenting.
