Pope Prays For Kennedys

Pope John Paul II is praying for John F. Kennedy Jr.

A papal spokesman says the pontiff is also recalling the Kennedy family's tragic history.

While vacationing in the Italian Alps, the pope was informed about the disappearance of the son of the assassinated president, his wife and sister-in-law in a plane crash.

John Paul immediately said a prayer for the entire family, telling aides, "This is only the latest tragedy that family has suffered."

The pope recalled the famous photo of Kennedy as a little boy saluting at the funeral of his assassinated father, America's only Roman Catholic president.
