Plot To Chop Off Hand For $27K Ring Foiled

A Brooklyn man is accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill his wife and cut off her hand with a samurai sword to get her $27,000 diamond wedding ring.

Police say the hit man was actually an undercover officer. They say Rockefeller Auguste was arrested Thursday at his Manhattan office on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

Police say the 35-year-old became enraged when he began to suspect his wife was cheating on him. They say he even gave the undercover officer a samurai sword and a deposit.

A woman who answered the phone early Friday at an address listed for Auguste and who identified herself as his sister said she had no comment at this time. She refused to give her name. It could not immediately be determined if Auguste had a lawyer.
