Outage Threatens Mets-Sox

A power outage in the Fenway Park area threatened Friday night's game between the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets.

"We at this time are still hopeful we can get the game in, though that's not something we can commit to at this point," Boston Edison Mike Durand said Friday afternoon.

The Red Sox took batting practice as normal. The walkways under the stadium were dimly lit by auxiliary lights.

Red Sox spokesman Kevin Shea said because of the schedule and weather forecasts, the Red Sox would not be quick to call off the game.

"With rain coming tomorrow and a new team coming in on Sunday, we've got to think about all those things," he said.
