Not Guilty Plea In Compton Killing
The man who's accused of murdering a sister of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams has entered a plea of not guilty.
Aaron Hammer entered the plea Wednesday in Compton, California - just outside Los Angeles.
He is charged with murder in the death of Yetunde Price, who was shot last month as she sat in an SUV with a companion, Rolland Wormley. An assault rifle and shell casings were found at the scene.
Authorities initially reported she was shot in the chest, but a coroner's spokesman said an autopsy showed she died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Hammer also was charged with using and possessing a firearm. If convicted of all charges, Hammer would face life in prison with the possibility of parole.
Police, meanwhile, say they've questioned a second man in connection with the death. He has not been charged in the Price case but he is being held on a parole violation.
Authorities have said Hammer has ties to a street gang in Compton, where the shooting took place, not far from the inner-city tennis court where Venus and Serena Williams first learned how to play.
