NEW YORK (AP) - News Corp. says it has hired a former AOL executive to help develop new digital products.

John McKinley will serve as chief technology officer and president of technology for the company's Digital Media Group. He will report to Chief Digital Officer Jon Miller, whom he worked with previously at AOL.

McKinley has been serving as a consultant for the product design team of News Corp.'s The Daily, an iPad-only newspaper set to launch Wednesday.

McKinley previously served three years as chief technology officer and president of digital services at AOL. Before that he headed global technology services at Merrill Lynch.
