New Handheld PCs...3Com's Palm VII

Which one to buy...can be a bit confusing. For about three hundred dollars, Palm-size PCs running the Windows CE operating system let you take scaled down versions of software with you anywhere. The Casio E-11 is a good choice....and even runs software that lets you navigate through menus using your voice. The competition for these Palm-size PCs...is 3Com's Palm organizers...which remain the king of the hill because of their basic simplicity. Just announced, but not yet on the market, is the Palm VII, which adds wireless communication capability. Product Manager Greg Shirai....

"First and foremost, it's a Palm Computing device. So it is an organizer, it's pocket sized, the same things that you've come to know about the Palm III, ease of use, instant access and things like that. But the two new things that we've really added to this device is something called web clipping and personal messaging. "

. The new Palm VII won't be available until sometime next year. The price is expected be under eight hundred dollars with the access service costing another ten dollars or so a month. You can bet there'll be a lot of people hoping that price will come down fast.
