Mills Returns To Pistons

Detroit native Terry Mills will return to the Pistons after reaching an agreement with the team Monday.

Terms of the deal were not released.

Mills, a free-agent forward out of Michigan, spent five seasons with the Pistons from 1992-97, averaging 13.5 points. He spent two injury-filled seasons in Miami.

Mills worked out at the Pistons practice facility for most of the summer, apparently dispelling fears about his surgically repaired left knee.

"Terry is a player who can help us this season," Detroit general manager Rick Sund said. "You can never have too many veterans on your ballclub and with the new rules changes, it really pays to have a big man who can step away from the basket."

Christian Laettner is expected to be the starter with Jerome Williams, Don Reid, Loy Vaught and Mills as the backups.

Mills has career averages of 11.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
