Miley Cyrus course offered at New York college
Skidmore College's core slogan is "creative thought matters," and that also applies to the school's course catalog.
Students attending the liberal arts college in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., can take a class this summer called "The Sociology of Miley Cyrus: Race, Class, Gender and Media."
The course will be held for 2 1/2 hours, three days a week.
Instructor Carolyn Chernoff told local paper The Daily Gazette that students shouldn't expect to attend a blow-off class.
"I created it as a creative and rigorous way of looking at what's relevant about sociology and sociology theory," Chernoff said. "Miley Cyrus is a surprisingly complicated cultural moment."
No word yet on whether a follow-up course on twerking will be offered.
