Memorial Service Set For Walker
A memorial service will be held Wednesday for Doak Walker, the man who lifted Southern Methodist University into the national spotlight a half-century ago.
Walker, the 1948 Heisman Trophy winner who starred on two NFL championship teams, died Sunday at a rehabilitation center in Colorado, where he had been recovering after a ski accident last January left him paralyzed. He was 71.
