The Tampa Bay Lightning signed 13-year NHL veteran defenseman Kjell Samuelsson to a one-year contract on Wednesday.

Samuelsson, 39, began the season in Austria with VEU Feldkirch. He had spent the past three seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers.

    Tampa Bay also placed Steve Kelly on the injured reserve list Wednesday. The center sustained a concussion in last Saturday's game at Carolina.
