Libby On The Table

The New Yorker's Lauren Collins has been brushing up on the fictional works of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, the indicted former chief of staff for Vice President Cheney:

"'The Apprentice' -- Libby's 1996 entry in the long and distinguished annals of the right-wing dirty novel -- tells the tale of Setsuo, a courageous virgin innkeeper who finds himself on the brink of love and war."
You'll have to read Collins' account for yourself, but her take on Libby's style is:
"When it comes to depicting scenes of romance … Libby can evoke a sort of musty sweetness; while one critic deemed 'The Apprentice' 'reminiscent of Rembrandt,' certain passages can better be described as reminiscent of Penthouse Forum."
Bet that's not on the book jacket.
