Exclusive: Lesley Stahl's interview with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and the Skakel family about the Martha Moxley murder case, airs Wednesday, April 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Hi everyone:

Sorry I've been out of touch for a few weeks, but the war has meant a lot of special programs that I've been involved with. But now, we're back to regularly scheduled 48 HOURS INVESTIGATES -- like the one that airs tonight (Wednesday, April 16 at 10 PM ET/PT).

This hour is about the case against "Kennedy cousin" Michael Skakel, who was convicted of murdering Martha Moxley, just about a year ago. What's new is my exclusive interview with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr, Michael's first cousin. He's done his own exhaustive investigation of the evidence and says Michael was wrongfully convicted, a belief shared, not surprisingly, by three of Michael's brothers who break their silence about the case for the first time.

What I found most interesting in the interview with Bobby Kennedy was how detailed and lawyerly he was in making his points. After a six-month re-examination of the facts in the case -- going back to the night of the murder in 1975 when Michael's neighbor Martha was bludgeoned to death with a golf club -- Kennedy argues like a defense attorney (he is a lawyer). He seems to be saying: This is the way the case should have been handled at the trial. Witnesses are discredited, another possible suspect is all but accused (the Skakel's tutor Ken Littleton who failed several lie detector tests), and the prosecutor's closing argument is impugned.

I also interview the prosecutor, Jonathan Benedict, who takes Kennedy on. I think you'll find the "debate" riveting. Martha's mother, Dorthy Moxley, tells us that she's 100 percent convinced the right man is behind bars. Not a day goes by, she says, that she doesn't think about her daughter, who would have turned 43 this year.

What's killing me is that I won't be able to see tonight's show myself. I'm leaving -- don't tell my mother -- for Afghanistan tonight on assignment for 60 MINUTES.

On a personal note, the show my husband Aaron Latham wrote, URBAN COWBOY, THE MUSICAL, opened on Broadway a few weeks ago in what's turned out to be a very difficult season. We're hoping now that the war in Iraq is winding down, tourists will flock back to NYC, and come see this fun show. I love it.
