John Waite's 'Hard Way'

About 30 years ago, singer-songwriter John Waite first found success with the band, The Babys. Then, in the early '80s, Waite decided to go solo, a gamble that paid off big with such worldwide hits as "Change" and "Missing You."

Now, 14 albums later, the British-born rocker is back with a new tour and CD. It's called "The Hard Way."

And he visits The Saturday Early Show to perform "Missing You," "Change" and "New York City Girl" on the Second Cup Café and talk about his new "Babes, Beer & Books Tour."

"When I took my current band out on the road to play a few gigs this summer, the energy both onstage and from the audiences was fierce," says Waite. "Initially, we thought we'd just go out for a short while before heading into the studio to record a new album. But then I realized that I was having such a phenomenal time playing in front of people that the next record could wait. That's how I am these days. If something feels right, then just do it."
