Insert Hyperlinks in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Documents

You can't put all the world's knowledge in that report you're writing, so you'd like to point to a few related Web sites. Good idea. Rather than reproducing the URL and making people copy and paste it themselves, you'd like to make it a real link, putting those resources just a click away. But you don't know how to turn text into links in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. Don't worry, we're here to help.

As the How-To Geek explains, adding a hyperlink to a document is pretty simple. Just follow these steps:

  1. Select the text you want to turn into a link.
  2. Right-click and choose Hyperlink.
  3. Type the URL you want to link to and click OK.
That's it. The article also explains how to hide the standard ScreenTip (you know, that annoying tooltip which explains, somewhat needlessly, that you must Ctrl+Click to follow the link).
