Help Me Interview Clay Christensen
The master of the Innovator's Dilemma has turned his eye on the educator's dilemma.
Clay Christensen has a new book out, Disrupting Class.
I'm talking with him next week about this book and his October book, a volume on healthcare called "The Innovator's Prescription."
Both education and healthcare are big issues for today's business world. How do we train the workforce of tomorrow, and how do we keep it healthy without ruining the balance sheet?
If you have questions you want me to ask Christensen, post them in comments. If need be, I'll run a poll seeing which questions most people want to ask him. I'll post relevant parts of the transcript afterwards.
In the meantime, here are some reviews of Disrupting Class:
TEFL Spin "... I have little doubt that much of what is stated in this book will come to pass."
Classroom 2.0's Steve Hargadon
"...gave me a new framework for trying to understand the philosophical tension in my own mind (and the nation's?) between authoritative and constructivist education."
Public School Evolution, The Denver Post
"A fascinating "disruptive technology" has started to displace big chunks of schooling. It's called student-centric learning -- individualized instruction, or better put, students progressing at their own pace, guided by computer programs tailored to their learning levels and personal learning strengths. A process in which teachers instruct less, coach more."
