Gebrselassie Gets World Record
Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia broke the world indoor record for 5,000 meters Sunday, clocking 12 minutes, 50.38 seconds at the BUPA Grand Prix meet.
Gebrselassie's time shaved 1.10 seconds off the mark of 12:51.48 set last year by Kenya's Daniel Komen.
Last year, Gebrselassie set the world 2,000-meter record at the same meet.
Gebrselassie is the Olympic 5,000-meter champion and world record-holder outdoors for 5,000 and 10,000 meters.
Sunday's race was his 15th world record, indoors and outdoors.
