Flames' Gauthier Suspended
Calgary Flames defenseman Denis Gauthier was suspended for two games by the NHL on Tuesday for an elbow to the head of New York Rangers forward Tim Taylor.
Gauthier hit Taylor with 34 seconds gone in the game Monday night. He did not receive a penalty for the hit, which sent Taylor to the dressing room for most of the first period.
Taylor returned to score the winning goal in overtime.
Gauthier will not collect his salary for two games, which equals $6,336.80.
The suspension covered Tuesday night's game in Montreal, as well as Friday's game against Vancouver.
